Канамицин-устойчивости гены, Kan r и Km r — два гена (kan) из транспозона-5 и транспозона-601, кодирующие аминогликозид-3'-фосфо-трансферазы (APH) I и II. Эти ферменты фосфорилируют антибиотики, такие, как канамицин, неомицин и др. аминогликозиды, и инактивируют их. К.-у. г. могут быть лигированы (см. Лигирование) к эукариотным промоторам, перенесены в клетки эукариот, где они будут придавать клеткам хозяина устойчивость к канамицину, а также использоваться как доминантные селективные маркеры у бактерий, грибов, животных и растений.
